Guts
Author: adminI would assume that there has been a certain point in your life that you have realized that you showed a lot of toughness. “Guts” as some people would say it. Back in my high school days, I used to play point guard for our school. I was pretty short that time at around 5′6 in height and we were like battling the giants. People called me “gutsy” because I always drive straight to the hoop and look for openings for my team mates. If there are no openings, I take the shot myself - in the land of giants. I would say that it was all about the heart of a player.
There was this time when I realized that I was actually inspired to play for someone (that someone ended up being my wife now). There was reason for the strength that I display. This is perhaps one of the reasons why people have guts - because of the inspiration and the need to satisfy or impress someone. Another reason is what most people call momentum. When you are all all tired and you suddenly shoot a big three point shot, it seems like all those fatigue is going down the drain and you start running as if you just came off the bench. That is true among many players. I experienced that first hand.
Lastly, the mindset of a player is to win. And he has to do anything he can possibly do just to achieve this victory. That is the winner’s heart. That’s what I like to call - Guts.
