Federation of Associations of Regulatory Boards promotes legacy of service to the world
Author: adminThe Federation of Associations of Regulatory Boards (FARB) is a non-profit, organization established in 1974 to promote excellence in the regulation of professions to protect the public.
As an association of associations, FARB is uniquely positioned to be a leader in promoting excellence in the regulation of professions by virtue of the depth of knowledge and commitment of its membership. These member associations are of regulatory boards across disciplines, jurisdictions, and professions. FARB’s branded assets, the Model Documents and the annual training events such as the Forum and Attorney Certification Seminar (ACS), contribute to the continual development of excellence in regulation for the purpose of public protection.
In addition, FARB’s ACS focuses on the legal principals of regulatory issues, providing a unique perspective not found elsewhere in the regulatory community.
Beyond its Full members (associations of regulatory boards), FARB membership extends to other entities.
State members (also called Commonwealth, Territory, District, or Provincial members) include regulatory board members, members of governmental agencies, attorneys general, and other state employees involved in the regulation of licensed professions.
Supporting members are companies, corporations, and other entities that provide goods and services to associations of regulatory boards and their members.
Governmental Agency memberships extend to those governmental agencies that oversee boards involved in the regulation of licensed professions.

Affiliate members are non-governmental professional certifying or credentialing bodies.
Regulatory Board (previously known as Associate) members are appointed members of governmental regulatory boards.
FARB also has some Individual members, who are individuals not necessarily belonging to a regulatory board, governmental agency, or association who have an interest and expertise in the regulation of professions and occupations and who desire to support the mission and goals of FARB.
Currently, FARB member organizations and representatives come from such diverse professions as veterinarians, optometrists, psychologists, chiropractors, physical therapists, funeral service examiners, long term care administrators, pharmacists, accountants, architects, nurses, engineers and land surveyors, social workers, massage therapists, barbers and cosmetologists, counselors, dentists, podiatrists, medical licensure, law examiners, and contractors licensing agencies.
The breadth of knowledge and expertise among FARB members positions FARB for its uniquely broad influence in the regulatory community.
