Gene therapy for erectile dysfunction

IF Viagra does not work, what will? Don’t panic. Your drive for sex can still be treated by the use of Gene therapy according to the report made by researchers. Maxi - K gene therapy is a type of gene transfer that improves erectile dysfunction.

Researchers said that this technology has a big potential for long term improvement for erectile function. While there are a lot of medications designed specifically for erectile dysfunction, they do not usually work very well in 40 percent of men.

According to the survey conducted by the researchers, 50 percent of urologists would consider switching their patients to gene transfer treatment. They noted that this practice will be well accepted by the physicians and their patients.

When they ran a series of tests, they came to a conclusion that two doses a year is enough for most men to maintain their normal sexual function. After 2 years of follow up, none of the men reported any abnormalities or side effects after the gene transfer. It proved to be safe and no effects were seen.

Based on the recent findings, the researchers are moving on to new experiments and they are hoping to have a product released to the public within 2 years.
