Obesity = Global Warming?
According to a recent research conducted by a team at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, obesity contributes to global warming too. How? Obese and overweight people need more fuel to transport them from different places to another and they consume more food than an average weight individual. As the population size grows, this problem will worsen.
As people become heavier, it becomes a global responsibility according to the researchers. They said that obesity is a key part of the big picture. There are at the very least 400 million adults worldwide who are obese. The projection of the World Health Organization states that by the year 2015, 2.3 billion adults will be overweight and more than 700 million will become obese.
Thinner people eat less and most likely, they will walk than ride a car. A slim and thin population will lower the demand for fuel and agriculture. This will also be a big factor in greenhouse gas emissions because 20% of these come from agriculture.
So do you still want to become a bum? DON’T. Let’s save the planet by saving our health.
